A Belgian federal public security organisation is extending its Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) programme. Intelligent cameras identify number plates, and a central platform compares them with vehicle information such as stolen or reported vehicles and access restrictions. As a mid-level Test Analyst, you will define and execute functional, technical, acceptance and regression testing across this chain, including automated testing of the application, connectivity and data flow.
The mission
The programme is part of the organisation's police information and ICT function, supporting services across Belgium, and covers the flow from camera capture to central management and data comparison. Platform performance, connectivity and data throughput must remain reliable so that recognition results are processed consistently and relevant vehicle information reaches operational users. The multidisciplinary team includes internal and external colleagues and works with developers, business analysts, IT teams and security teams. The current work is planned through the end of 2026, with approximately 50 working days scheduled in agreement with the team.
Your scope covers the complete test cycle for changes to the ANPR application and its interfaces. You will turn requirements and technical changes into test plans, detailed test scenarios and scripts, prepare suitable test data and environments, execute and re-execute tests, and document findings through resolution. You will maintain automated testing and collaborate with developers and business analysts to choose appropriate test types and environments. Your reports, analyses and release notes will give the wider team a traceable view of progress, results and application readiness.
Your responsibilities
- Define test strategies and plans for functional, technical, acceptance and regression testing, aligning coverage with requirements, risks and planned releases.
- Design and document test scenarios and scripts that allow developers and business analysts to reproduce expected and unexpected application behaviour.
- Prepare test data and coordinate test environments so that integrations, connectivity and data throughput can be assessed consistently.
- Execute manual and automated tests, then re-test corrected changes across the relevant ANPR workflows.
- Identify, document and maintain defect tracking for findings, including evidence, impact, priority and verification of fixes.
- Produce progress and results reports, analyse recurring issues, update release notes and improve testing instructions and application documentation.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least 5 years of hands-on software testing experience, with practical experience setting up and documenting test activities.
- Understand IT systems and applications sufficiently to analyse functional and technical behaviour and ask relevant follow-up questions.
- Apply functional, technical, acceptance and regression testing methods across different test environments.
- Create clear test plans, test scenarios and test scripts from business and technical input.
- Use automated testing techniques and test tools, and maintain test assets as the application evolves.
- Manage test data and interpret how data flows through connected systems.
- Track defects precisely and produce concise analyses of progress, results, risks and remaining work.
- Work methodically and accurately, prioritise effectively, communicate clearly with technical and business colleagues, and share acquired knowledge.
