A public-sector organisation is developing an internal web application for managing court appeals against decisions concerning people with disabilities. The application is built with C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Microsoft SQL Server, and covers proceedings across several legal instances. As a junior .NET developer, you will join one analyst and three developers working towards delivery by the end of 2026.
The mission
The application centralises the information required to manage an appeal from its submission through the different stages of the legal process. It handles hearings, the appointment of lawyers and experts, cost statements, document generation and judgments, creating a single workflow for a data-rich administrative process. The project is being developed using Agile delivery and sprints.
You will contribute to the existing .NET framework and development conventions established by the team. Your work will combine functional understanding and software development, including translating French functional analysis into application features, implementing changes across the web interface and data layer, and documenting the delivered functionality. The development team works in both Dutch and French, while technical documentation may be written in your own language or in English.
Your responsibilities
- Translate functional analysis into reliable application features for the appeal management process.
- Extend the existing .NET Core and ASP.NET application using C# and the team’s established development approach.
- Develop clear web interfaces with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap 5, JavaScript and jQuery.
- Implement and maintain data access using Microsoft SQL Server and REST web services.
- Test, document and refine delivered functionality during Agile sprints, using SVN in line with the team’s version-control practices.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Apply junior-level software development experience to an existing .NET application, with the ability to learn the project’s technical and functional context.
- Develop in C# with .NET Core and ASP.NET.
- Build and maintain web pages using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap 5, JavaScript and jQuery.
- Work with SQL databases, specifically Microsoft SQL Server, and integrate REST web services.
- Understand functional analysis and convert requirements into implementable application behaviour.
- Collaborate in an Agile team and produce clear technical documentation in your own language or in English.
