A public-sector technology organisation is delivering digital applications for child development, prenatal social support and vaccination services used by care and administrative professionals. This senior application architect and technical lead role steers a service-oriented Java and Angular landscape, with Angular 21, Angular Material, Java/Spring Boot and relational databases at its core.
The mission
The role sits within a multi-application programme covering a child record and appointment application for children aged 0 to 6, digital prenatal social records, and a modernised platform for vaccination data. The vaccination solution will support cross-service vaccination history, supply-chain tracking and decision-support reporting. The landscape combines Java 8/JEE7 and Java 21, Spring Boot, NgRx, DB2, MySQL and Flyway, with Apache Maven, Git/GitLab CI/CD and Nexus supporting delivery. The programme is planned from mid-November 2026 through the end of 2027.
As senior application architect and technical lead, you own implementation coherence from technical analysis through release. You work with functional and business analysts, testers, project leadership and middleware specialists, while guiding developers on architecture, code quality, performance and maintainability. The team works in Agile Scrum, so your decisions connect individual modules to reliable business applications used by public-service professionals.
Your responsibilities
- Define and maintain application architecture documents and technical designs based on functional requirements.
- Lead the delivery of Java/Spring Boot and Angular modules, including REST/OpenAPI services and JPA-based persistence.
- Establish development standards through clean code, SOLID and DRY principles, code reviews and structured refactoring.
- Improve application performance by addressing memory management, response times and technical debt.
- Validate unit tests, releases and application behaviour across execution environments, including GitLab CI/CD and Docker deployments.
- Coach developers and coordinate technical decisions with analysts, testers, project leadership and middleware specialists.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Senior-level experience as an application architect, technical lead or equivalent technical authority on complex applications.
- Ability to design and implement Java 8/JEE7 and Java 21 applications using Spring Boot and JPA.
- Strong Angular 21 capability, including Angular Material, NgRx and browser-side technologies such as IndexedDB, Dexie and Service Worker.
- Practical experience with DB2, MySQL and Flyway database migration management.
- Ability to design and document REST/OpenAPI services and integrate service-oriented application components.
- Experience writing and validating automated tests with JUnit and Mockito.
- Ability to manage build and delivery practices with Apache Maven, GitLab CI/CD, Docker and Nexus.
- Capability to apply Agile Scrum practices, lead code reviews, mentor developers and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
