A Belgian federal social security institution supporting self-employed entrepreneurs runs an IT service of more than 150 people and delivers business applications through Scrum teams. As an Application Owner / Ops Engineer, you will combine application operations, production incident analysis and release support, using tools such as Azure DevOps, Active Directory and Dynatrace or equivalent monitoring platforms.

The mission

You will join a multidisciplinary development team composed of a scrum master, business analysts, developers, testers, a product owner and an AO/Ops Engineer. The team is responsible for several business applications, from ongoing development through production support and continuous improvement. Your work will contribute to stable application services and reliable software delivery for internal business stakeholders. The team uses Scrum methodology and works with IT Service Management processes, including ServiceNow.

As the application point of contact, you will connect business users, the helpdesk, technical specialists, IT colleagues and external partners. Your day-to-day scope includes monitoring production components, analysing reported incidents, identifying root causes and coordinating fixes with the development team. You will also validate new software and production corrections, support releases and contribute to application development through code changes, query writing, analysis and documentation. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, SOAP and Postman is useful when working across the application delivery chain.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain the continuity and operational reliability of the business applications owned by the team.
  • Analyse production incidents, identify root causes and coordinate corrective actions with developers, technical experts and business representatives.
  • Monitor and report on application components running in production, using Dynatrace or similar monitoring tools.
  • Validate new functionality and production fixes through structured testing before delivery.
  • Support release activities and ensure that application changes are documented and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop or adapt code, write queries and perform technical analyses in close collaboration with the wider Scrum team.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • Bring medior-level experience in application ownership, application operations or a comparable IT production role.
  • Manage production incidents from identification and analysis through correction, testing and stakeholder communication.
  • Work with Active Directory, Azure DevOps, MS PowerShell and Dynatrace or an equivalent monitoring tool.
  • Apply IT Service Management principles and use ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM platform.
  • Write application or database queries, perform structured analyses and produce clear technical documentation.
  • Work effectively according to the Scrum methodology, taking ownership while remaining aligned with the development team.
  • Communicate clearly with business users and technical colleagues, remain customer-oriented and make sound decisions independently, including during release periods.

Languages

  • Dutch or French: C1 or equivalent professional working proficiency.
  • The second national language: B2, with active professional knowledge.
  • English: B1, sufficient to understand technical documentation.
