A public-sector digital services organisation is evolving an integration platform that connects Azure workloads, private cloud services, and legacy applications. This senior Technical Architect role combines Azure integration architecture with hands-on delivery across Java, GIS, Enterprise Data Management, and WSO2 integration components.
The mission
The platform interconnects information systems hosted on Azure, in a private cloud, and in legacy environments. Its technical landscape includes Azure services including AKS, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Azure Storage, and Workbooks with Kusto Query Language (KQL), alongside Docker and Kubernetes. The architecture supports Enterprise Data Management and GIS, with data repositories and subscription mechanisms for authoritative data sources. GIS capabilities use Hibernate Spatial, JTS, GeoTools, and spatial algorithms, creating consistent patterns for data exchange and location-based processing.
You will define High Level Designs and technical architectures for solutions built on this platform. You will guide a development team through implementation, contribute to part or all of the development, and support the maintenance of existing solutions. The scope covers Java and J2EE platform solutions, including Java 11, 17, 21, and 25, with JPA, Quarkus, Spring 6.x, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch. Your technical analyses, design documentation, developer handovers, and coaching will connect architectural decisions with maintainable delivered software.
Your responsibilities
- Define high-level and technical architectures that connect Azure, private cloud, and legacy information systems.
- Translate Enterprise Data Management and GIS requirements into reusable integration and data exchange designs.
- Guide a development team during implementation, resolving technical decisions and keeping delivery aligned with the approved architecture.
- Implement and maintain solution components across Java, Spring, Quarkus, JPA, WSO2, and related platform technologies.
- Secure and observe integration flows using REST, SOAP, WS-Security, Azure messaging, and Kusto Query Language.
- Produce technical analyses, design documentation, developer handovers, and coaching that support maintainable operations.

- Bring senior experience in technical architecture for hybrid integration platforms spanning Azure, private cloud, and legacy applications.
- Design Azure solutions with AKS, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Azure Storage, Workbooks, and Kusto Query Language.
- Apply Docker, Kubernetes, Java 11, 17, 21, and 25, J2EE, JPA, Quarkus, Spring 6.x, Spring Batch, and Spring Boot to production solutions.
- Use REST, SOAP, WS-Security, SOA, and microservices appropriately across integration designs.
- Work with WSO2 Enterprise Integrator version 6.4 and later, and WSO2 API Manager version 2.6 and later.
- Apply Enterprise Data Management, data repositories, subscription mechanisms for Authoritative Sources, and GIS with Hibernate Spatial, JTS, GeoTools, and spatial algorithms.
- Lead developers, explain architecture clearly, document decisions, and coach team members through handover.
