A Belgian public transport organisation is carrying out a complete redesign of its mobile application, a central part of its digital services in Belgium. This senior business analyst role focuses on end-to-end user journeys, screen mapping and wireflows, connecting business needs with UX/UI design and development.
The mission
Within the Business Solutions department, the Build & Transform team analyses, prepares and executes projects across the organisation’s digital landscape. This landscape includes SAP, Documentum or OpenText, case-management solutions, an intranet, a mobile application and a website. The current initiative is a full mobile application redesign that requires consistent functional decisions across business, UX/UI, architecture, development, QA and project management. Clear functional definition matters because every journey, screen and rule must be understood by designers, developers and testers.
The role covers functional definition from initial need analysis through preparation for development. You will model nominal paths, exceptions, error states, offline scenarios, real-time dependencies and accessibility requirements, then connect them to features, screens, user stories, acceptance criteria and test scenarios. Confluence will hold the functional documentation, while Draw.io will support journey and flow modelling. You will work with business stakeholders, UX/UI designers, the Product Owner, project management, architects, developers and QA/UAT colleagues.
Your responsibilities
- Structure end-to-end user journeys so that nominal, alternative and critical paths are fully covered.
- Translate business and user needs into features, screen behaviours, epics, user stories and acceptance criteria ready for design and development.
- Define screen mapping and wireflows, including loading, empty, error and offline states, accessibility needs and edge cases.
- Build and maintain a clear, prioritised backlog with dependencies, refinement material and traceability to the underlying journeys.
- Facilitate functional workshops and clarify expected behaviour with business, UX/UI, architecture, development, QA and project management.
- Maintain Confluence documentation and support QA/UAT with functional references, traceability matrices and test scenarios.
