A European aviation organisation is extending the back end of its Learning Management System, which supports training courses and events. As a C#/.NET Back-End Developer, you will work on the ACE application, built with ASP.NET 8 within the Scheer IMC Learning Suite, designing REST APIs and SQL Server changes for an Edit Prerequisites workflow. The role combines C#/.NET back-end development for a Learning Management System with collaboration across software engineering, training and user support.

The mission

Learning Zone runs on the Scheer IMC Learning Suite and is deployed in Azure Cloud through Azure AKS. The initial assignment covers an ACE Action App that retrieves course prerequisites and metadata, searches for courses, manages alternative prerequisite groups, and routes changes through approval. It combines C#/.NET services, REST integration, database design, testing and deployment to TEST and production.

You will translate functional requirements and high-level designs into implementable back-end solutions. You will agree API contracts with a front-end developer, coordinate database and architecture decisions with a Senior Software Engineering Expert, and work with training experts and business users. Further task-based assignments may add Learning Zone services and IMC Learning Suite REST API integrations.

Your responsibilities

  • Design and implement C#/.NET and ASP.NET 8 back-end services for prerequisites, metadata and approvals.
  • Define and document REST APIs and message-based integrations for front-end and external systems.
  • Extend SQL Server structures and deliver database/table design, query writing, query tuning, SQL functions and stored procedures.
  • Integrate ACE with existing applications and IMC Learning Suite APIs, then test, troubleshoot and deploy changes to TEST and production.
  • Support training experts and end users by investigating issues and explaining technical behaviour clearly.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • Translate functional requirements and high-level designs into maintainable solutions, with at least 1 year of technical software design experience.
  • Develop C#/.NET applications, including .NET Core or .NET 6+, with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Use SQL to design or modify relational data and write queries, with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Design and develop REST APIs or message-based integrations, with at least 1 year of experience.
  • Work with HTML, CSS and JavaScript for at least 2 years and collaborate effectively with front-end developers.
  • Provide direct end-user support for at least 1 year and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred skills

  • Bring 3+ years of recent C#/.NET and Microsoft SQL Server experience, including SQL Server database design and query tuning, SQL functions and stored procedures.
  • Have used Visual Studio, Azure AKS, containers, deployment pipelines, multi-branching DevOps, application security or COTS integrations.
  • Know the Scheer IMC Learning Suite or its REST API, including IMC Learning Suite REST API integration, Learning Management System administration, course instances, participant administration or user accounts.
  • Apply responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, clear labelling/documentation, or framework-independent HTML/CSS/JavaScript development.

Languages

  • English: B2 minimum, spoken and written, with enough clarity for international colleagues and non-technical end users.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or three years of higher education in Computer Science.
