A Belgian financial institution is consolidating its cyber security priorities into a bank-wide portfolio of initiatives, roadmaps, studies, and capability improvements. As a Cyber Security Strategy & Project Manager within the CoE Security Strategy and Delivery team, you will combine project management and information security governance to turn security strategy into funded, sequenced delivery. The role covers executive stakeholder engagement, dependency management, and change management from initiative definition through completion.

The mission

The CoE Security Strategy and Delivery team defines the cyber security initiative strategy and translates it into a prioritised portfolio for the organisation's Belgium-based business functions. The portfolio includes security projects, enhancements, studies, and policy improvements that must align with Group standards, regulatory expectations, bank requirements, and investment priorities. Your work will support information security governance in financial services and provide clear direction to senior management and ExCo.

As a senior cyber security project manager, you will own multiple initiatives from inception to completion. You will establish roadmaps, milestones, budgets, dependencies, and risk responses, while coordinating contributors across security, technology, and business teams. You will also turn complex stakeholder input into concise executive reporting, decision memos, presentations, and communication materials.

Your responsibilities

  • Shape high-level and short- to medium-term cyber security roadmaps, including priorities, investment needs, milestones, and expected outcomes.
  • Lead cyber security projects and programs through initiation, planning, delivery, governance, and completion.
  • Prioritise workstreams according to security objectives, business value, dependencies, and available capacity.
  • Identify risks, issues, and delivery impediments early, resolve them autonomously where possible, and escalate them in a structured way when required.
  • Engage security teams, business stakeholders, Group functions, and senior management to align decisions and support roadmap execution.
  • Prepare ExCo-level reporting, executive presentations, governance updates, and evidence-based recommendations.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • At least 10 years of experience managing multiple IT or security projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated capability in information security governance, including risk management, security frameworks, and regulatory alignment.
  • Strong project management and change management capability, with relevant certification such as PRINCE2, ITIL, or ADKAR.
  • Ability to analyse complex issues, assess dependencies, and develop clear, evidence-based conclusions.
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt content for technical teams and senior management.
  • Leadership and relationship management skills for coordinating contributors across disciplines and identifying risks early.
  • Accountability for delivery outcomes, with an autonomous, proactive, and solution-oriented working style.

Preferred skills

  • CISSP, CISA, or CRISC certification.
  • Experience with IT transformation projects or large-scale security and technology initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and maturity or quality transformation.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Practical knowledge of data security frameworks.

Languages

  • French: C1 or higher
  • Dutch: C1 or higher
  • English: C1 or higher

Education

  • Master's degree required, or equivalent senior-level experience where accepted by the organisation.
