A public administration in Wallonia is consolidating business data from multiple federal and regional sources into an enterprise reference repository. The senior data analyst role focuses on business data modelling, semantic analysis and harmonisation of business concepts, connecting data owners, data managers, governance specialists and technical teams so the repository can support consistent enterprise identification and controlled reuse across the Walloon Region.
The mission
The current landscape contains duplicated, dispersed and differently defined enterprise data across many business applications. The repository will progressively consolidate identifiers, identification attributes, activity classifications and related information from federal and regional sources, improving data quality and reducing repeated collection. Its rollout requires a clear view of source ownership, legal and quality constraints, existing interfaces, and the conditions under which data can be reused according to the only once principle.
You will work in a project team comprising a project manager, technical coordinator and data engineer, within the data management and value function. Your scope covers candidate source analysis, inventory design, semantic harmonisation, reference data selection and preparation of governance decisions. The resulting documentation will support future Metawal catalogue entries, integration planning and applications that may consume enterprise reference data.
Your responsibilities
- Assess candidate data sources for the enterprise reference repository, documenting business definitions, creation and update processes, legal bases, quality controls, sensitivity and reuse potential.
- Build and maintain a consolidated inventory of enterprise data, identifying data owners and data managers and preparing source descriptions that can feed Metawal.
- Facilitate workshops with business experts, data managers, data owners and technical stakeholders to compare definitions, resolve semantic conflicts and establish a common taxonomy.
- Identify redundant or overlapping data, evaluate authoritative reference data, and formulate simplification scenarios with their process, legal and application impacts.
- Map current and potential data exchanges, including exposure mechanisms, interfaces, update frequencies, constraints and dependencies, to inform integration choices.
- Prepare concise analysis reports, meeting records and recommendations that clarify governance responsibilities, reuse conditions, Open Data potential and priorities for decision-making bodies.
