A major Belgian financial institution is strengthening its governance of artificial intelligence development across banking products and processes. As a Data Governance Specialist, also working as a Responsible AI consultant, you will help establish the AI Risk Framework used to assess risks such as bias, limited explainability, weak robustness, privacy issues and unsustainable use of AI.
The mission
The organisation is developing a consistent Responsible AI approach across its financial sector activities. Your work will connect artificial intelligence development with risk management, legal requirements and operational controls, including the European AI Act and GDPR. You will contribute to policies, processes, governance artefacts and practical tools that support trustworthy AI systems from design through deployment.
You will work with legal, risk, data and analytics teams, as well as data scientists, business analysts and business owners. Your scope will include reviewing AI use cases, identifying ethical, legal, operational, IT, security and technical risks, and recommending proportionate measures for accountability, transparency, human oversight, privacy, fairness and sustainability. The role suits someone with at least two years of relevant experience who can combine technical understanding with clear stakeholder communication.
Your responsibilities
- Design and implement elements of the AI Risk Framework, including governance boards, policies, processes, artefacts and assessment tools.
- Assess artificial intelligence solutions for risks related to bias, fairness, robustness, safety, hallucinations, explainability, privacy and environmental impact.
- Advise data scientists, business analysts and business owners on practical risk mitigation throughout the AI lifecycle.
- Align local governance practices with group-level legal, risk and data policies and applicable artificial intelligence regulations.
- Support risk management processes and produce sustainable recommendations that can be applied consistently across AI use cases.
- Communicate technical findings and governance decisions to stakeholders ranging from operational teams to senior management.
Your profile
Essential skills
- At least 2 years of experience in a relevant artificial intelligence, governance, legal or risk position.
- Practical understanding of artificial intelligence development, preferably through experience as a data scientist or in a closely related technical role.
- Ability to identify and manage AI risks across ethical, legal, operational, IT, security and technical perspectives.
- Understanding of financial sector business, including banking products, processes and associated regulatory expectations.
- Analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex findings into sustainable deliverables.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including interaction across different organisational levels.
Preferred skills
- Experience with an AI Risk Framework, data science, data and analytics or broader risk framework activities.
- Knowledge of the European AI Act, GDPR and artificial intelligence regulations.
- Certification or formal training in artificial intelligence development, regulations or risk management.

Education
