A core business applications team is extending and maintaining a mixed .NET estate, from .NET Framework services to .NET 8 and later APIs. This mid-level .NET backend developer role focuses on RESTful API development, Entity Framework Core, and integration with SQL Server and Oracle across applications that combine ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC.

The mission

The organisation's core business applications run across a mixed Microsoft and Oracle landscape. The environment includes .NET Framework 4.5 and later, .NET 8 and later, REST and WCF services, SQL Server 2016 through SQL Server 2025, and Oracle 19. Azure DevOps, Git and TFVC support source control and delivery, while the team handles both new development and corrective and evolutionary maintenance.

You will take assigned backend work from interpreting UML and BPMN models through implementation, testing and support. Your scope includes services, data access, integrations and application changes that follow architectural guidance and team standards. You will work with analysts, architects and other developers in an Agile Scrum setup, contributing to sprint delivery and technical incident resolution.

Your responsibilities

  • Deliver RESTful APIs and backend services in .NET Framework and .NET 8+, using Entity Framework Core and JSON or XML where required.
  • Extend and maintain ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC applications without compromising existing business functionality.
  • Apply SOLID principles, object-oriented practices and architecture-approved design patterns to produce maintainable, performant code.
  • Manage data access across SQL Server and Oracle, and diagnose issues affecting application behaviour or service integration.
  • Build and execute unit tests, investigate incidents, and implement corrective or evolutionary changes with clear technical reasoning.
  • Develop, debug and track code and delivery work in Visual Studio and Azure DevOps, using Git or TFVC, while contributing throughout Scrum sprints.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • Develop backend applications with .NET, .NET Core, .NET 8+, and .NET Framework.
  • Design and consume RESTful APIs, WebAPI, WCF REST, WCF and other web services.
  • Use Entity Framework Core, JSON, XML and relevant W3C standards.
  • Work with SQL Server 2016 through SQL Server 2025 and Oracle 19.
  • Interpret UML and BPMN models and implement design patterns based on architectural recommendations.
  • Write maintainable, performant object-oriented code using SOLID, unit testing and team development standards.
  • Work autonomously, analyse technical problems, and communicate effectively with analysts, architects and developers in an Agile Scrum environment.

Preferred skills

  • Practical experience with SOAP API.
  • Familiarity with Redgate tools.

Languages

  • French, C2 level, required for collaboration in a predominantly French-speaking service.
