An organisation is extending and maintaining its core business applications across a backend estate that combines .NET Framework, .NET 8+, ASP.NET MVC, WebForms, RESTful API services, WCF, XML and JSON. This senior backend .NET developer role focuses on translating business requirements into maintainable services and application changes, using .NET Core and Entity Framework Core in collaboration with analysts, architects and a Scrum team.

The mission

The application landscape covers SQL Server 2016 through SQL Server 2025 and Oracle 19. It includes established .NET applications alongside newer services, so the work combines corrective and evolutionary maintenance with new development. Azure DevOps with Git and TFVC supports delivery management and source control, with Visual Studio as the main development environment. These applications support core business processes, making reliable interfaces, data access and controlled releases important to daily operations.

You will own backend changes from technical analysis through implementation and validation. You will interpret functional needs with the Scrum team and solution architect, apply the recommended design patterns, and connect your work to the wider application architecture. Your scope includes RESTful API services in .NET Framework and .NET 8+, ASP.NET MVC and WebForms interfaces, database changes, and integration formats such as XML and JSON. The service is predominantly French-speaking, and you will work closely with analysts, architects and other developers during sprints.

Your responsibilities

  • Translate functional requirements and process models into technical solutions aligned with the solution architect's recommendations.
  • Deliver RESTful API services and web application changes across .NET Framework, .NET 8+, ASP.NET MVC and WebForms.
  • Implement reliable data access and database changes across SQL Server and Oracle using Entity Framework Core where appropriate.
  • Produce maintainable, performant code by applying SOLID principles, object-oriented practices and suitable design patterns.
  • Validate implementations through unit testing, code reviews and the team's development standards.
  • Diagnose technical incidents and deliver corrective and evolutionary maintenance while contributing to continuous improvement.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • Bring senior-level experience developing backend applications with .NET, .NET Core, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET WebForms and .NET 8+.
  • Build and maintain RESTful API, Web API, WCF REST, WCF and web service integrations using XML and JSON.
  • Work confidently with SQL Server versions 2016 to 2025 and Oracle 19, including database management and data access concerns.
  • Use Entity Framework Core, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Git and TFVC in a structured development workflow.
  • Apply SOLID principles, object-oriented design, W3C standards and appropriate design patterns to produce maintainable code.
  • Analyse functional requirements, write unit tests, investigate incidents and communicate effectively with analysts, architects and developers.
  • Work in an Agile Scrum delivery model, contributing to sprints, code reviews and continuous improvement.

Preferred skills

  • Interpret UML and BPMN models when clarifying requirements and technical designs.
  • Work with SOAP API integrations or Redgate database tools.

Languages

  • French: C2 proficiency, required for collaboration within the predominantly French-speaking service.
