A public healthcare organisation is developing a digital pregnancy certificate service in the Belgian healthcare sector, supporting processes used across Belgium. The full stack developer will build and maintain application components with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and TypeScript, while contributing to integrations based on RESTful APIs and OpenAPI.
The mission
The pregnancy certificate project is part of a broader healthcare application landscape built around Service Oriented Architecture, microservice architecture, and webservices. The technical environment includes Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, relational databases, Docker, Git, OpenShift, Maven, REST, and OpenAPI. The work supports the reliable exchange of structured information between healthcare-related services.
You will contribute across the application lifecycle, from analysing requirements and designing APIs to implementing, testing, and improving production-ready software. Your work will connect front-end functionality with Java back-end services and external systems, while applying Agile Scrum practices and agreed development standards. Knowledge of FHIR is optional but relevant to the healthcare context.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and extend Java and Angular components for the pregnancy certificate service, ensuring that new functionality is usable and maintainable.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications that support consistent integration between services.
- Apply Service Oriented Architecture and microservice architecture principles to produce clear service boundaries and reliable webservices.
- Build, test, package, and deploy applications using Spring Boot, Maven, Docker, Git, and OpenShift.
- Improve software quality through code reviews, automated testing, technical documentation, and the consistent application of development best practices.
- Collaborate with analysts, developers, and stakeholders through Agile Scrum ceremonies, using Jira and Confluence to maintain delivery visibility.
