A major Belgian financial institution in the European financial sector is establishing a cloud environment for both legacy and new application assets. As a senior DevOps Engineer for on-premise and cloud production environments, you will use Docker, Java, Jenkins and Terraform to standardise deployment automation and support application teams.
The mission
The programme covers the introduction of new technologies and tools into a production landscape where middleware, database and web products must be deployed consistently across on-premise and cloud environments. Deployment orchestration uses Jenkins and DigitalAI, while Terraform supports infrastructure automation and the provisioning of middleware, database and web components. The continuous integration platform includes Nexus, Maven, SVN and Git, with architecture rules and standards guiding implementation across the estate.
Your scope connects build, testing, quality and release activities, from application packages and runbooks to release pipelines and controlled promotion between environments. You will work with development and testing teams to make delivery workflows repeatable, traceable and easier to operate, while troubleshooting Linux-based infrastructure, Java applications and containerised workloads. The role follows Agile methodologies and requires autonomous analysis, clear communication and practical coordination in a multicultural environment.
Your responsibilities
- Design and implement DevOps tooling and architecture patterns for on-premise and cloud assets, respecting architecture rules and standards.
- Deliver deployment automation with Jenkins and DigitalAI for middleware, database and web products, reducing manual release steps.
- Build Terraform and Ansible automation that provisions and configures infrastructure consistently across environments.
- Integrate continuous integration, continuous deployment and delivery, and continuous testing into release pipelines using Git, Maven and Nexus.
- Orchestrate releases through application packages, runbooks and controlled workflows, enabling development, testing, quality and collaboration teams.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least 6 years of relevant experience in DevOps engineering or IT development and integration.
- Operate production environments across on-premise and cloud platforms, with practical knowledge of Docker containers.
- Apply technical knowledge of Java and architecture rules and standards to deployment design.
- Use Agile methodologies to deliver reliable changes within cross-functional, multicultural teams.
- Analyse incidents logically, communicate clearly and work with autonomy, initiative and commitment.
Preferred skills
- Apply build and deployment automation, CI/CD, process automation and release orchestration with Jenkins and DigitalAI.
- Administer Linux systems and use Shell and Python for operational automation and troubleshooting.
- Work with Kubernetes, Helm charts, Ansible, Terraform, Maven, Node.js and container platforms.
- Support Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Redis and CFT workloads; enterprise cloud platform experience is an advantage.
