A federal public service is moving its ICT function towards a professional CI/CD approach across its development initiatives. This role leads the mapping, standardisation and automation of software integration and deployment, using GitLab, Sonar, Docker and the ELK stack.
The mission
The work begins with an inventory of existing CI/CD initiatives and processes. You will examine how teams currently integrate and deploy software, retain useful practices, and supplement them with market best practices. The result is a common standard that teams can follow and the ICT function can monitor. You will also establish the reusable tooling needed to support that standard.
Each development team receives a progressive action plan, starting with the most important or most recent initiatives. You will work with teams throughout implementation, support their transition, and document both the standard and progress. The role covers CI/CD automation in continuous delivery environments, software quality checks, and cloud automation in Azure and/or AWS. Pipeline work can include Sonar and Selenium with GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or Azure DevOps. You will also communicate implementation plans, problems, delays and automation risks to project teams, management and other stakeholders.
Your responsibilities
- Map current CI/CD processes and initiatives.
- Define and monitor a CI/CD standard from existing and market best practices.
- Set up reusable tools, environments and automation scripts supporting high software quality.
- Develop progressive plans with each team, starting with major or recent initiatives.
- Guide development teams through implementation and transition.
- Lead automation efforts and continuous improvement in software integration and deployment.
- Communicate implementation plans, problems, delays and risks to teams, management and stakeholders.
Your profile
Essential skills
- At least three years' demonstrable experience as the person responsible for CI/CD implementations in similar projects or complex environments.
- At least three years' experience in DevOps teams building CI/CD pipelines.
- At least two years' practical experience with continuous delivery environments.
- Experience integrating automation tools such as Sonar and Selenium with GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
- At least three years' experience with Docker.
- At least one year's experience automating cloud environments with Azure and/or AWS.
- At least one year's experience with the ELK stack, including Elastic Log/Kibana.
- Strong communication and change management skills with development teams, infrastructure teams and management.
- Professional experience using MS Teams, Jira and Confluence for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Preferred skills
- Experience integrating SCA tools, such as CAST Highlight, and SAST tools through CI/CD pipelines.
