A healthcare organisation is developing and maintaining software for the BelRAI Vlaanderen project, which supports structured assessment and information exchange in the care and health domain across Flanders. As an experienced Java developer, you will work on backend services and integrations built with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and Docker. The role suits a developer who can apply service-oriented architecture principles and deliver tested software in a healthcare environment.
The mission
BelRAI Vlaanderen is part of a Flemish care and health landscape where applications exchange data with backoffice systems and other services. The technical landscape includes Java and J2EE applications, Spring and Spring Boot, JBoss, Angular 2+, JSF, Postgres, and SOAP and REST web services. Backoffice integration with surrounding systems relies on service oriented architecture, RESTful API design, Swagger, Git and Docker.
Your day-to-day scope covers the design, implementation, testing and integration of Java components within this landscape. You will deliver services and APIs, connect them with backoffice processes, and use automated unit tests with JUnit to verify behaviour before delivery. Working within an Agile and Scrum delivery model, you will apply established best practices and contribute to reliable project releases.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver maintainable Java services and REST APIs that fit the existing application landscape.
- Design and evolve RESTful interfaces and web services for dependable data exchange with backoffice systems.
- Connect application components to surrounding backoffice processes while preserving clear service boundaries.
- Strengthen release confidence through automated unit tests using JUnit and test-driven development.
- Apply service oriented architecture principles and Java and Spring best practices to implementation decisions.
- Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies, technical discussions and delivery activities from development through release.
