A public-sector IT organisation supports government administrations and institutions through shared infrastructure and digital services. Within its middleware function, a senior MFT architect designs secure file transfer architecture using Fortra MFT and complex exchange flows.
The mission
You will evolve the managed file transfer environment, covering clustering, gateways, production and non-production separation, and database and storage replication. The role sets security, encryption and access rules, taking applicable standards and regulatory requirements into account. You will review complex exchanges using workflows, scripts, APIs, connectors and forms, and decide when to use MFT rather than web services or APIs. The mission also covers migration planning for dispersed legacy flows and communication and training for project teams and internal partners.
Your responsibilities
- Design and evolve Fortra MFT architecture, including clustering, gateways and environment separation.
- Set security, encryption and access rules for compliant file exchanges.
- Validate technical and functional designs for complex transfer workflows and integrations.
- Choose between MFT, web services and APIs for exchange requirements.
- Plan legacy-flow migration and coordinate communication and training for stakeholders.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Senior-level solution and infrastructure architecture experience, with rigorous analysis and documentation.
- Ability to translate business needs into secure, documented technical architectures.
- Knowledge of operating systems, networks, storage and cloud environments.
- Transfer protocols: SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, PeSIT, REST API and SOAP.
- Security and cryptography: SSL/TLS certificates, SSH keys and PKI management.
- Fortra MFT suite: clustering, workflows, forms, connectors, gateways and modules.
- Ability to facilitate discussions, explain technical choices and support change.
- Sound judgement when framing and arbitrating robust technical choices.
