A major European banking group is developing and maintaining international payment products, including payment rails based on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). Working as a senior IT Functional Analyst, you will translate banking and payment requirements into functional and technical specifications, define Swagger APIs, and coordinate with Java technology teams through agile delivery and production support.
The mission
The international payments division supports cross-border payment services while introducing solutions intended to improve speed, availability, transparency and cost efficiency compared with traditional payment rails. Work is organised in multicultural, empowered squads covering analysis, architecture, development, testing and operational support. The technical landscape includes Java applications, APIs and interconnected application components that must comply with enterprise architecture and security standards.
You will follow requirements from initial analysis to production, working with business analysts, product owners, architects, developers, Test Engineers, suppliers and operational teams. You will help compare solution options, assess cost and benefit, and refine business needs into Features, User Stories, data definitions and process flows. During each sprint, you will specify component responsibilities, follow implementation and integration testing, and maintain consistency between requirements and delivered software. After release, you will analyse production incidents, coordinate resolution with the relevant teams, and update the solution documentation.
Your responsibilities
- Translate banking and payment requirements into precise functional and technical specifications that developers and Test Engineers can implement and verify.
- Shape solution options with business and architecture stakeholders, balancing enterprise standards, security, application impacts, cost and benefit.
- Coordinate asset teams and partner squads so responsibilities, interfaces, data flows and API behaviour remain clear across the solution.
- Define and document Swagger APIs and support the integration of Java-based components across development, test and production environments.
- Validate delivery through test scenarios, defect analysis, integration support and release follow-up, resolving complex functional issues.
- Stabilise production services by analysing incidents, coordinating operational support and incorporating approved improvements into documentation.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least 7 years of experience as a Functional Analyst in complex IT environments.
- Combine functional and technical knowledge of IT systems with the ability to turn business needs into implementable solutions.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience building Swagger APIs and documenting interfaces, data and process impacts clearly.
- Understand banking and payment products and apply a structured analysis methodology for payment requirements.
- Prioritise work pragmatically, manage stakeholders effectively and communicate precise analysis across business and technical teams.
- Work constructively in multicultural squads, sharing feedback and contributing beyond your primary discipline when needed.
Preferred skills
- Apply knowledge of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to payment or financial services use cases.
- Have experience with agile methodology and practical Scrum delivery.
- Understand Java technology and the integration of Java-based application components.
