A major business bank is extending the digital channels used by enterprise customers across web and mobile applications. As a senior React developer, you will contribute primarily to the frontend with React and Core JavaScript, while also working with Java and Spring on selected end-to-end features.
The mission
The Channels and Customers Experience team owns the digital products that enterprise customers use to interact with the bank. Its Agile squads combine business, analysis, development, testing, and operations capabilities, with responsibility for delivering and maintaining features across web applications, mobile applications, and cloud-based backend services. The current setup supports end-to-end product delivery rather than frontend development in isolation.
You will join a squad made up of internal and external specialists and take primary responsibility for the React layer. Your work will include translating requirements into maintainable software, integrating external data sources and APIs, and contributing to backend services built with Java and Spring when the feature requires it. You will also participate in DevOps activities, pairing, technical discussions, and continuous improvements to the squad's way of working.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver reusable React features that meet functional requirements and maintain application performance, quality, and responsiveness.
- Design clear technical solutions for web and mobile-facing functionality, including integrations with APIs and external data sources.
- Improve the codebase through clean code practices, refactoring, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
- Ensure reliable delivery by applying Test Driven Development, Jest, and React Testing Library, while identifying and resolving defects and bottlenecks.
- Contribute to Java and Spring backend development, Agile ceremonies, pair programming, and knowledge sharing across the squad.
Your profile
Essential skills
- At least 8 years of relevant software development experience, including substantial experience as a React developer.
- Deep working knowledge of Core JavaScript and proven ability to build and maintain production React applications.
- Ability to produce readable, maintainable code and apply clean code, refactoring, design patterns, and SOLID principles in daily development.
- Practical experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Jest, and React Testing Library.
- Professional use of Git or another VCS, with an understanding of collaborative branching and code review practices.
- Experience working in Scrum teams, with a pragmatic Agile mindset, willingness to pair, and the ability to give and receive technical feedback.
Preferred skills
- Experience with Java, Spring Framework, Maven, and database-related development.
- Knowledge of authentication processes and their implementation in enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with frameworks and technical standards used in large banking environments.
Languages
- English: sound professional knowledge.
- French or Dutch: advantageous.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent professional experience.
