A university hospital is expanding its mobile strategy for the non-medical applications used by hospital staff. As a Mobile Software Developer, you will build and maintain native Android applications in Kotlin, using the Android SDK and Jetpack Compose to connect employees with workflows supported by an Oracle PeopleSoft ERP backend. The role is centred on Android today, with scope to contribute to iOS or cross-platform decisions as the mobile landscape develops.
The mission
The IT department includes around 30 developers who maintain administrative and operational applications covering HR, Finance, Procurement and Inventory. These systems run on an Oracle PeopleSoft ERP environment and support the daily work of thousands of hospital employees. Mobile applications provide a practical user interface for selected workflows, making reliable integration, security and usability important parts of the work.
You will work across the full mobile development lifecycle, from analysing user needs and shaping the IT architecture to development, release and user guidance. Your immediate focus will be native Android development, while your broader scope will include backend integration, application monitoring and learning the relevant PeopleSoft and SQL Server context. Over time, you will take ownership of mobile projects from initial analysis through production use.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and maintain native Android applications in Kotlin that support concrete workflows for hospital employees.
- Translate functional requirements into scalable solutions based on MVVM, Clean Architecture, dependency injection and secure UX decisions.
- Integrate mobile applications with REST APIs and backend services using technologies such as Retrofit, OkHttp, Room and Firebase.
- Improve application reliability by using Firebase Crashlytics, Analytics and Cloud Messaging to monitor usage and address production issues.
- Deliver mobile projects end to end, including analysis, implementation, testing, release and user guidance.
- Follow developments in iOS and cross-platform technologies, and contribute to future mobile platform decisions where relevant.
