An organisation serving customers through mobile applications is extending automated tests for journeys that combine native iOS and Android screens with Flutter-based SDK screens. As a senior Mobile Test Automation Engineer, you will use Appium, Java and Selenium-based automation to create reliable end-to-end coverage across both interface types.
The mission
The programme covers a host application integrating screens delivered by a Flutter SDK. Test coverage follows complete customer journeys, including transitions between native screens and embedded or hybrid interfaces on iOS and Android. Suites run on real devices, emulators and simulators through Perfecto or an equivalent enterprise mobile device testing platform. The resulting logs, screenshots and execution evidence support consistent release decisions.
Working as a senior mobile test automation engineer, you will translate business scenarios and acceptance criteria into reusable Cucumber and Gherkin tests. The scope is test automation execution rather than SDK development or integration, including preparation of test data and prerequisites, suite execution, and failure investigation. You will separate application defects from script, environment or data issues, connect results to CI/CD pipelines, and share factual feedback with testers, developers, analysts and product stakeholders. Documentation of coverage, operating instructions and limitations keeps the approach usable within Agile delivery.
Your responsibilities
- Design end-to-end Appium automation for complete Android and iOS journeys, including transitions between native and Flutter SDK screens.
- Build maintainable automation frameworks and reusable Java/Selenium components with BDD practices, Cucumber and Gherkin.
- Prepare repeatable test data, device setup and element inspection across real devices, emulators, simulators and Perfecto.
- Integrate suites into CI/CD pipelines with Git, Maven, Jenkins or equivalent tooling, and TestNG or a comparable test runner.
- Analyse logs, screenshots and execution evidence to distinguish defects and provide reproducible reports.
- Improve reliability, execution time, maintainability and diagnostics, then document coverage and known limitations.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least 6 years of software testing experience, with strong hands-on Appium mobile automation on both Android and iOS.
- Apply Java, Selenium-based automation, BDD practices with Cucumber and Gherkin, plus testing standards and test design principles.
- Design maintainable automation frameworks and reusable components, and integrate them with CI/CD pipelines.
- Operate real devices, emulators, simulators and Perfecto, covering device setup, element inspection and execution troubleshooting.
- Interpret logs, screenshots and execution evidence, separate application defects from test-script, environment and data issues, and work autonomously in Agile delivery.
Preferred skills
- Test Flutter modules or SDK-provided screens embedded in native applications, including Flutter testability and element-interaction challenges.
- Use UI Automator, Espresso or XCUITest for native mobile coverage.
- Apply API validation, mocking or stubbing, automated reporting and techniques for unstable mobile tests.
- Add accessibility, visual validation or performance checks, and hold ISTQB or relevant mobile test automation certification.
Languages
- English, B2 or above, required for daily collaboration, documentation and defect reporting.
- Dutch, CEFR level not specified, is an advantage.
- French, CEFR level not specified, is an advantage.
Education
- Bachelor's or master's degree in IT, engineering or computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
