An insurance organisation is modernising its domain layer while connecting new .NET services to established COBOL systems. The .NET Analyst Developer combines technical analysis and .NET development, using practical Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to turn architecture and predefined API contracts into analysis artifacts, user stories, and maintainable code.
The mission
The organisation is introducing a modern domain layer that connects .NET components to existing COBOL behaviour. Solution Architects define high-level architecture and domain models, while analysts and developers turn those decisions into bounded contexts, aggregate roots, entities, value objects, repositories, and API implementations. This work preserves established business behaviour while creating a clearer model for future change.
You will work across the full path from requirements to production deployment. The role is split 50% analysis and 50% development. As an analyst, you will translate architecture into detailed analysis documents, acceptance criteria, technical specifications, and requirements that developers can implement. As a developer, you will deliver domain services, API implementations, integration tests, and other .NET components in collaboration with traditional analysts and COBOL specialists.
Your responsibilities
- Translate high-level architecture and domain models into actionable analysis artifacts, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
- Model requirements using DDD concepts such as bounded contexts, aggregate roots, entities, value objects, and repositories.
- Implement clean .NET services and APIs from predefined contracts, ensuring that the code reflects the underlying domain model.
- Deliver complete features from technical requirements through integration testing and production deployment.
- Analyse COBOL behaviour and assess the impact of proposed domain changes on legacy systems.
- Maintain code quality, architectural integrity, maintainability, and adherence to agreed design patterns.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring 2 to 5 years of experience in .NET development and technical analysis, with scope appropriate to a medior .NET Analyst Developer.
- Apply practical DDD experience to structure complex requirements and support adoption of domain-driven thinking within a delivery team.
- Demonstrate API implementation ability by turning predefined contracts into clean .NET implementations aligned with domain models.
- Use working knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and event-driven architecture basics.
- Show strong requirements translation skills, including the ability to translate architecture into actionable analysis artifacts.
- Work constructively with COBOL specialists, remain curious about legacy systems, and assess existing behaviour without losing sight of the target architecture.
- Communicate clearly, coach colleagues when needed, handle ambiguity and complexity, and adapt between analysis and development priorities while maintaining code quality and integrity.
Preferred skills
- Experience working with Scrum or Agile delivery practices.
- Experience contributing to large, complex .NET projects.
- Experience coaching colleagues in DDD or domain analysis.
- Familiarity with AI-augmented delivery practices.
- Previous exposure to COBOL systems.
