A public transport organisation in Flanders, Belgium, is maintaining and further developing a datawarehouse application that supports operational reporting, analysis, and transport planning. This senior datawarehouse developer role focuses on IBM DataStage development, datawarehouse modelling in an Agile ICT environment, and the delivery of integrated data and BI components.
The mission
The work covers the full lifecycle of a datawarehouse application, from modelling and architecture through data integration, reporting, analysis, databases, and metadata. The technical scope includes IBM DataStage for ETL development and Cognos as a relevant BI technology. Reliable data structures and reporting components provide the information needed for operational decision-making and transport planning.
You will translate information needs into maintainable data models, ETL processes, and reporting components. Your work will connect the individual datawarehouse elements into a coherent solution, while your project-oriented approach will support Agile delivery and allow you to take a leading role when required.
Your responsibilities
- Design and maintain data models and datawarehouse structures that provide a consistent foundation for reporting and analysis.
- Plan, design, and build datawarehouse applications with IBM DataStage or Cognos, from technical design through implementation.
- Develop DataStage jobs and ETL designs and architectures for data integration, with attention to maintainability and data quality.
- Build and connect datawarehouse components covering ETL, BI reporting and analysis, databases, and metadata.
- Contribute to Agile development methods in a project-oriented datawarehouse context and guide delivery activities when taking a leading role.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least 5 years of professional experience in IBM DataStage development, including planning, designing, and building datawarehouse applications.
- Demonstrate at least 5 years of experience with datawarehouse modelling and at least 4 years designing and managing data models.
- Apply Agile development methods with at least 4 years of practical experience and the ability to take a leading role when needed.
- Work in a structured, project-oriented way and connect business information needs to technical datawarehouse solutions.
- Understand how ETL, BI reporting and analysis, databases, and metadata work together within a datawarehouse architecture.
Preferred skills
- At least 4 years of experience developing DataStage jobs.
- At least 4 years of experience creating ETL designs and architectures.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, processes, and architectures.
- Knowledge of Hastus or comparable public transport planning systems.
Languages
- Dutch: C2, CEFR.
Education
- Formal training in datawarehouse modelling, or equivalent demonstrable project experience in datawarehouse modelling.
