A public-sector geospatial programme is replacing the existing ICAR application with ICARB, the central inventory for addresses, streets, and buildings. As a junior cartographic operator, you will update the PICC in ArcGIS Pro, process reported anomalies, and support municipal agents using the new application. The role combines GIS cartography, application support, and practical training for users with different levels of technical experience.

The mission

ICARB is being deployed to municipal administrations to manage address, street, and building information. This rollout generates requests concerning incorrect street alignments, address positions, street-name changes, and address renumbering. The resulting updates must be reflected accurately in the PICC, the reference geographic database used by the programme.

You will work within a cartography team and handle requests submitted by municipal agents. Your scope will cover both ArcGIS Pro cartographic updates and user assistance through telephone and online channels. You will also prepare and deliver ICARB training sessions, initially for groups of municipalities and later, where needed, directly at municipal administrations or the programme’s offices.

Your responsibilities

  • Process reported anomalies in street geometry and address positioning using ArcGIS Pro, ensuring that corrections are complete and accurate.
  • Update the PICC for complex address and street-management cases, including street-name splits, mergers, and address renumbering.
  • Provide clear ICARB application support to municipal agents by telephone and online, explaining both application functions and sound address-management practices.
  • Prepare training materials and organise information or training sessions for municipal agents and representatives.
  • Deliver practical demonstrations and guidance adapted to users with varied backgrounds and levels of GIS experience.
  • Review the quality of completed work, organise priorities, and coordinate with colleagues to maintain consistent processing.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • Apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS), particularly the ESRI suite and ArcGIS Pro, to edit and maintain spatial data.
  • Work independently on assigned cartographic requests while recognising when an issue requires discussion with the team.
  • Explain procedures clearly and patiently to municipal users, both in support conversations and training sessions.
  • Check the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of your work before delivery.
  • Organise tasks according to priorities and deadlines, take initiative when appropriate, and contribute effectively to team activities.
  • Communicate clearly with users and colleagues and adapt your explanation to the audience.

Preferred skills

  • Use FME for ETL activities, including designing workspaces and transforming data structures.

Languages

  • French, professional working proficiency, equivalent to at least B2.

Education

  • A relevant degree in geomatics, geography, surveying, GIS, or equivalent practical experience.
