This Platform Engineer role sits in a central Platform Team that provides the shared foundations used by application teams to build, deploy, and operate software. You will work across Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure DevOps, Terraform, and .NET application delivery, maintaining reusable pipelines and infrastructure rather than a single product application.
The mission
The platform covers private and public AKS clusters, including node pools, networking, ingress, autoscaling, and confidential compute workloads. Azure services include Key Vault, Azure Container Registry, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, SQL Database, managed identities, and RBAC, with OpenShift support where applicable. Shared Azure DevOps YAML templates standardise delivery from build and test through packaging, deployment, quality gates, and controlled environment promotion.
Your scope combines platform engineering, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code. You will maintain Terraform modules and Azure Storage-backed state, write PowerShell Core 7+ modules for deployment logic, and administer repositories, service connections, agent pools, variable groups, and approvals. You will also help application teams consume platform capabilities, document integration patterns, and review shared code for consistency and backward compatibility.
Your responsibilities
- Operate and evolve private and public AKS clusters, including networking, ingress, node pools, autoscaling, Helm deployments, and confidential compute workloads.
- Build and optimise shared, parameterised Azure DevOps YAML pipelines for .NET applications, container images, database deployments, and Service Bus provisioning.
- Automate repeatable Azure provisioning by writing and maintaining Terraform modules, managing state, and using Azure CLI and PowerShell for lifecycle operations.
- Enforce secure and auditable delivery through RBAC, managed identities, TLS, network policies, SonarQube quality gates, and environment promotion controls.
- Administer shared repositories, GitFlow branching, pull request validation, service connections, agent pools, variable groups, and environment approvals.
- Enable application teams through documentation, onboarding guidance, troubleshooting, and reviews of shared platform code.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Medior-level experience in platform engineering, infrastructure automation, or a closely related role.
- Hands-on capability with Azure Kubernetes Service, including cluster networking, ingress, node pools, autoscaling, Helm, and confidential compute.
- Ability to design and maintain multi-stage Azure DevOps YAML pipelines with template composition, parameters, conditions, and deployment controls.
- Experience writing Terraform modules, managing Azure Storage-backed state, and applying infrastructure safely across environments.
- Proficiency in PowerShell Core 7+, including reusable modules, robust error handling, and automated testing with Pester 5+.
- Working knowledge of .NET development, Visual Studio, NuGet package management, Docker, container builds, and database management.
- Understanding of Azure services, Active Directory and Windows Server Management, Identity & Access Management, RBAC, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, and network security.
- Ability to work with API integration and messaging, including Azure Service Bus, and to support monitoring with Dynatrace, ELK Stack, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Clear communication skills for documenting platform standards and supporting application development teams.
