A Belgian wastewater and resource recovery organisation operates treatment infrastructure across Flanders, where residual sludge is dried for reuse as a source of green energy and raw material. As a senior process technician in Limburg, Belgium, you will keep the sludge drying installation stable by monitoring process trends, adjusting parameters, and applying your knowledge of industrial electricity.
The mission
The organisation manages more than 325 wastewater treatment plants, nearly 2,025 wastewater pumping stations, and over 7,085 km of sewerage infrastructure. The sludge processing and drying installation converts a by-product of water treatment into a reusable material and energy source, connecting reliable plant operation with resource recovery.
You will work within the sludge processing team and take responsibility for day-to-day process monitoring. Your scope includes site rounds, sampling, checking measurements, identifying electrical and mechanical faults, and supporting preventive and corrective maintenance. The role follows early, day, and late shifts, with weekend and public holiday coverage in day service. Early shifts run Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 14:00, late shifts from 14:00 to 22:00, and weekend and public holiday coverage is generally scheduled from 08:00 to 16:00.
Your responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the sludge processing and drying installation to maintain safe, reliable, and consistent output.
- Analyse process trends, verify measurements, and adjust installation parameters when operating conditions require it.
- Inspect equipment during site rounds, take samples, and identify deviations before they affect production or safety.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and coordinate or perform the appropriate corrective action.
- Carry out preventive maintenance activities to support equipment availability and reduce recurring failures.
- Record process information, maintenance actions, and deviations accurately using Microsoft 365 and established reporting procedures.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Apply a valid BA4 certificate and a sound understanding of basic industrial electricity in an operational plant environment.
- Use electromechanical knowledge to investigate faults across electrical, mechanical, and process equipment.
- Monitor trends and make responsible, evidence-based adjustments to installation parameters.
- Work independently, follow safety procedures, and take ownership of decisions during a shift.
- Handle administrative follow-up and reporting with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Work an early, day, and late shift rotation, including weekends and public holidays when scheduled.
- Meet the required Hepatitis A and tetanus vaccination conditions.
Training for confined-space entry and safety-watch duties is provided as part of the role.
Preferred skills
- Bring practical mechanical experience in an industrial installation.
- Hold a mobile elevating work platform certificate or an overhead crane operator certificate.
