A financial services organisation is building its data-driven operating model through a shared Data Platform supporting reporting, analytics, AI, and data governance. As Senior Product Owner of the Data Platform, you will define the product vision and roadmap, then work with business stakeholders and a Scrum Team to turn priorities into usable platform capabilities.
The mission
The Data Platform provides a common foundation for data use across the organisation, including business intelligence, reporting, analytics, AI use cases, and governance practices. The role sits within a data team that collaborates with technology specialists, business stakeholders, platform users, architects, engineers, and central Personal Finance teams. Your decisions will influence platform adoption, reuse, sustainability, and the organisation’s ability to turn data into measurable business value.
You will connect strategic priorities with day-to-day delivery. This includes maintaining the product vision and roadmap, translating business needs into outcomes and initiatives, and continuously prioritising the Product Backlog. You will work with analysts, developers, architects, and the Scrum Team to refine requirements, manage trade-offs, validate delivered capabilities, and adjust priorities based on user feedback, platform data, and relevant KPIs.
Your responsibilities
- Define and maintain a clear product vision, roadmap, and set of priorities for the Data Platform.
- Translate business priorities, regulatory requirements, and user needs into measurable product outcomes and actionable initiatives.
- Own and continuously prioritise the Product Backlog, balancing business value, platform sustainability, dependencies, and delivery capacity.
- Build alignment among stakeholders, platform users, architects, engineers, and related product owners by making trade-offs and decisions transparent.
- Validate delivered capabilities against agreed objectives and use adoption data, feedback, and KPIs to guide continuous improvement.
- Communicate roadmap progress, risks, dependencies, and prioritisation decisions to business and technology audiences.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring proven experience as a Senior Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a comparable product leadership role.
- Shape product vision and roadmaps, and apply value-based prioritisation to competing demands.
- Translate complex business needs into clear priorities, product outcomes, and delivery-ready initiatives.
- Understand data and analytics concepts sufficiently to collaborate effectively with technical teams and business users.
- Work confidently in Agile delivery environments and contribute to Scrum ceremonies, refinement, and planning.
- Facilitate decisions and build alignment across stakeholders with different objectives, levels of technical knowledge, and areas of responsibility.
- Communicate clearly about priorities, risks, dependencies, progress, and trade-offs.
Preferred skills
- Experience with data platforms, business intelligence, reporting, AI, or data governance initiatives.
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks and tools such as Octane, Jira, Confluence, or Klaxoon.
- Experience coordinating with shared platform teams or central product organisations to support reuse and alignment.
- A pragmatic approach to balancing strategic product development with hands-on backlog ownership.
