A banking organisation is strengthening its Marketing and Communication department for professional banking clients, including the Starters segment and a digital professional banking offer. As a Senior Product Owner, you will translate marketing and communication priorities into a squad backlog, working with IT teams and applying Agile, Scrum and Kanban practices to campaigns, business initiatives and continuous improvement.
The mission
The squad supports communication and campaign delivery, business projects and improvements to the customer experience. The organisation has recently adopted an Agile Scrum way of working, so the role combines product ownership with practical change management across the squad and cluster. Your work will connect annual MarCom plans and department strategy with clear deliverables for professional banking clients.
As product owner for professional banking clients, you will gather stakeholder needs, shape priorities and maintain a backlog that the squad can execute. You will work closely with the cluster lead, MarCom strategists, other Product Owners, Scrum Masters and IT teams, including teams involved in app development. The role also includes representing the squad in senior meetings and contributing to strategic and flagship projects.
Your responsibilities
- Translate the annual MarCom plan and stakeholder needs into a prioritised squad backlog.
- Prioritise initiatives against customer needs, banking products, strategic objectives, commercial value, available resources and deadlines.
- Clarify objectives, expected outcomes and acceptance conditions before the squad starts each initiative.
- Monitor backlog progress, delivery speed and team performance, and align squad and cluster resources with the agreed priorities.
- Lead regular business reviews and lookbacks that turn delivery results into concrete improvements.
- Strengthen the Agile way of working by identifying improvements with the Scrum Master and supporting change management at squad and cluster level.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least 6 years of relevant experience in product ownership, business analysis or a comparable role.
- Understand professional client segments, banking products and the operational context of a banking business line.
- Translate business and customer needs into priorities, decisions and actionable deliverables for IT teams.
- Apply Agile, Scrum and Kanban methodologies in delivery and continuous improvement work.
- Use Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and SharePoint confidently in day-to-day coordination and reporting.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking, analytical problem solving, negotiation and clear stakeholder management.
- Build trust and feedback within a squad, while providing pragmatic, servant leadership and adapting to change.
Preferred skills
- Experience with Adobe Campaign, Workfront or Wrike.
- Familiarity with the wider banking group and experience working with senior management stakeholders.
- Background in marketing or communication, including customer journeys and campaign work.
- Experience with design thinking methodology and facilitation, or an Agile certification.

- Dutch: B2 or higher, professional working proficiency.
- French: B2 or higher, professional working proficiency.
- English: B2 or higher, with sound professional knowledge.
Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience.
