A Belgian insurance organisation is developing its Employee Benefits offering for employers, brokers and insured affiliates, focusing on second-pillar pensions and group insurance covering retirement, disability and death. The senior Product Owner Employee Benefits will connect business and IT in a SAFe Agile environment, applying customer journey redesign for employers, brokers and affiliates and driving digital transformation in Employee Benefits through analytics and process improvement. The work involves stakeholders across Belgium and the Brussels region and centres on digital products and processes that support these journeys.

The mission

Employee Benefits covers second pillar group insurance products, including pension, disability and death cover arranged by employers for their employees. The product landscape includes digital journeys and servicing processes for employers, brokers and affiliates. Delivery takes place in a SAFe Agile setup, with close cooperation between business stakeholders, IT teams, architects and operational departments. These improvements support a simpler, more transparent customer and partner experience while advancing the organisation's Employee Benefits strategy.

As the Product Owner, you will represent the business for one or more key products or processes. You will turn customer feedback, regulatory requirements, business objectives and market developments into prioritised features and measurable improvements. Your work will connect product development with operations, customer service, distribution partners, portfolio management and other Product Owners. You will also coordinate dependencies and maintain alignment across the teams involved in delivery.

Your responsibilities

  • Define the product vision, roadmap and priorities for Employee Benefits products and processes, linking delivery to strategic objectives and customer outcomes.
  • Translate business needs, customer insights and regulatory requirements into clear epics, features and user stories.
  • Prioritise the product backlog according to business value, customer impact and delivery dependencies.
  • Redesign customer journeys and simplify administration and servicing for employers, brokers and insured members.
  • Coordinate stakeholders and dependencies across Agile teams, architects, operations, customer service and distribution partners.
  • Facilitate or contribute to PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Reviews and Retrospectives, then validate delivered solutions against business requirements.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • Bring at least 5 years of relevant experience in product ownership, digital transformation, business transformation, project management or customer journey redesign.
  • Demonstrate proven experience with Employee Benefits, particularly 2nd pillar or group insurance products. This insurance knowledge is essential for the role.
  • Shape digital products and process improvements using end-to-end customer thinking and a clear understanding of employer, broker and affiliate needs.
  • Work effectively in Agile or Scrum environments, with experience in a SAFe framework.
  • Use analytics, structured problem-solving and market insight to identify opportunities and support evidence-based priorities.
  • Apply strong stakeholder management and communication skills when aligning business, IT and operational teams.
  • Balance long-term product vision with short-term delivery, while working autonomously, hands-on and with clear ownership of results.
