An insurance organisation is delivering an SAP Portal solution integrated with policy, claims, finance, risk management and reporting processes. This medior SAP insurance project manager role coordinates business stakeholders, external system integrators, enterprise architects and technical delivery teams across SAP FS-PM, FS-CM, FS-CD, SAP BW, Datasphere and SAC. The position combines end-to-end project governance with delivery oversight of SAP ABAP and SAP HANA dependencies.
The mission
The programme is centred on SAP Portal integration with insurance modules. The landscape spans SAP FS-PM and Msg.PM for policy processes, FS-CM for claims, FS-CD for collections and disbursements, plus Business Partner and MDG. Data and reporting flow through SAP BW, SAP Datasphere and SAC, with SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP forming part of the broader technical context. This work supports controlled improvements to insurance operations while meeting regulatory, quality and reporting requirements.
You will own the integrated plan, scope, governance and dependencies across several workstreams. As the central coordination point, you will align business owners, implementation partners, architects and delivery teams, facilitate decisions and report progress through governance structures. Your remit includes budgets exceeding €1 million, forecasts, RAID management and vendor commitments. You will also connect testing, cutover, training and communication activities to business readiness and benefits realisation.
Your responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end SAP insurance implementation projects, aligning scope, deliverables, budget, timelines and dependencies.
- Coordinate business owners, external system integrators, architects and technical teams to secure decisions and resolve conflicts.
- Govern delivery across SAP Portal interfaces and SAP insurance modules, keeping workstreams aligned with approved acceptance criteria.
- Control RAID logs, vendor performance, forecasts and expenditure against the approved business case.
- Define quality gates and oversee SIT, UAT, performance and cutover testing before go-live.
- Coordinate training, communications and business-readiness activities to support adoption and benefits realisation.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least 4 years of project management experience, including 2 years leading SAP projects.
- Lead SAP insurance transformation projects with an understanding of policy, claims, finance, risk or reporting processes.
- Manage budgets exceeding €1 million, maintain forecasts and track financial performance against approved business cases.
- Coordinate external system integrators and senior stakeholders through governance, negotiation, escalation and decision-making.
- Apply working knowledge of SAP, SAP ABAP, SAP HANA and SAP insurance modules to challenge plans and coordinate technical delivery.
- Use or coordinate delivery with SAP BTP, SAP Solution Manager or Cloud ALM, and Microsoft 365 tools such as Teams, SharePoint, Power BI and Project Online or Planner.
- Lead with clear communication, conflict resolution, team direction and results-focused decision-making under pressure.
