A Belgian public transport organisation serving the Walloon region is moving master data from SAP ECC into SAP S/4HANA as part of a multi-year S/4HANA migration programme. Working in a two-person migration team, the SAP Master Data migration consultant will configure SAP Data Services, transform and validate extracted data, and load the resulting datasets into staging tables for the S/4HANA Migration Cockpit. The role combines SAP data migration, ETL execution, data quality controls, and reconciliation reporting across several SAP business domains.
The mission
The programme covers the technical path from initializing SAP Data Services to loading transformed records into S/4HANA staging tables and supporting the Migration Cockpit. SAP ECC data is extracted, mapped, cleaned, enriched, transformed, checked, and reconciled before each run. The work includes structures from FI, CO, PS, FM-BCS, MM, SD, PM, and HR. Delivery is planned in phases through March 2029, including cutover and post-go-live support.
As the technical consultant in a two-person SAP Master Data migration team, you will own configuration and execution in SAP Data Services. You will translate mapping and transformation rules agreed with functional teams into repeatable data flows and staging loads. For every run, you will verify extraction completeness, simulate and execute transformations, prepare validation reports for data owners, and adjust rules based on feedback. You will report progress and raise critical risks to the Workstream Lead while coordinating with the Migration Consultant, project team, internal SAP teams, and architects.
Your responsibilities
- Configure and test SAP Data Services extraction criteria and integration flows so each run produces migration-ready datasets.
- Translate mapping, transformation, and enrichment rules into repeatable jobs that prepare validated data for S/4HANA staging tables.
- Optimise SAP Data Services performance for the data volumes and delivery windows defined in the migration plan.
- Produce data quality checks and reconciliation reports in CSV, Excel, Power BI, or other reporting tools.
- Execute each migration run, confirm extraction completeness, validate transformed data, and deliver approved records to the Migration Cockpit staging tables.
- Document data flows and technical specifications, report progress clearly, and escalate critical issues or risks to the Workstream Lead.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least four years of experience with data manipulation or ETL tools, including at least one year of hands-on work with recent versions of SAP Data Services and S/4HANA migration.
- Support SAP data migration from initialization through production cutover, including migration into the S/4HANA production environment.
- Apply practical knowledge of extraction and integration, data cleaning, enrichment, transformation, quality checks, and reconciliation reporting.
- Understand data structures in SAP ECC and S/4HANA across FI, CO, PS, FM-BCS, MM, SD, PM, and HR.
- Use analytical thinking to solve problems and identify process improvements without losing delivery focus.
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, work independently or in a team, and provide concise progress reports.
