As a Senior .NET Developer for public-sector applications, you will build and evolve software with .NET C#, Azure, REST APIs, and AI-assisted development while helping development teams adopt practical AI techniques.

The organisation operates a broad and complex IT landscape supporting Belgium's social security and healthcare systems. Multidisciplinary teams deliver software in short Agile/Scrum cycles, using .NET, Azure cloud services, REST API development, SQL data, and CI/CD pipelines. The role connects application development with technical design, automated quality controls, and deployment practices. The products support processes used by millions of people, making dependable integration and maintainable code important to day-to-day public services.
Your scope covers the full development lifecycle, from discussing technical solutions and architecture choices to implementing, testing, documenting, and maintaining software components. You will work with product managers, solution architects, and other developers in sprint refinements, planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives. Part of your remit is AI knowledge transfer to development teams, helping colleagues integrate AI-assisted development tools into their daily workflow. Stakeholders include Dutch- and French-speaking colleagues across the organisation.
Your responsibilities
- Design and implement maintainable .NET C# components and REST APIs for public-sector digital products.
- Translate business needs and architecture decisions into tested, deployable solutions with multidisciplinary Agile/Scrum teams.
- Improve delivery reliability by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, and Azure cloud practices.
- Raise code quality through code reviews, unit and integration test automation, documentation, and consistent development standards.
- Diagnose bugs and performance issues in existing applications, then deliver sustainable fixes.
- Enable AI-assisted development by evaluating suitable tools and transferring practical knowledge to development teams.

Essential skills
- Brings senior-level experience in .NET C# development and takes ownership of software quality from implementation through maintenance.
- Designs, develops, and integrates REST APIs and works confidently with SQL data and relational databases.
- Builds and maintains unit and integration test automation as part of a quality-focused delivery process.
- Works effectively in Agile/Scrum teams and contributes constructively to refinements, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Understands CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, and Azure cloud development or deployment practices.
- Can provide AI knowledge transfer to development teams and apply AI-assisted development tools responsibly in daily engineering work.
- Brings public sector experience and can collaborate with product managers, solution architects, and technical stakeholders.
