Senior Security Project Manager

A Belgian national security organisation is coordinating security programmes that protect sensitive information systems and operational capabilities. As Senior Security Project Manager, you will direct projects across governance, infrastructure and endpoint security, applying Agile delivery and ZeroTrust principles while aligning stakeholders, security controls and delivery milestones.

The mission

The portfolio covers security initiatives in a highly restricted environment, with work spanning Microsoft Windows, Linux, Android, PKI, EDR and SIEM capabilities. Projects are managed against recognised security and delivery frameworks, including ISO 27001:2005, NIST, PMBOK, PRINCE2 and SCRUM. The work supports the protection of sensitive systems and helps the organisation implement consistent security controls across its technology estate.

You will own the project-management layer from initiation to delivery, converting security objectives into plans, dependencies, risk controls and measurable outcomes. Your scope includes coordinating technical specialists and security stakeholders, maintaining governance reporting, and keeping decisions traceable. You will also coach the project team and help teams apply Agile ways of working without losing the documentation and control expected in a security environment.

Your responsibilities

• Lead security projects through initiation, planning, execution and closure, delivering agreed security capabilities within approved scope and milestones.
• Translate ZeroTrust, ISO 27001:2005 and NIST requirements into prioritised work packages, acceptance criteria and risk treatments.
• Coordinate delivery across EDR, SIEM, PKI, Microsoft Windows, Linux and Android workstreams, resolving dependencies so controls work together.
• Apply SCRUM and Agile practices alongside PMBOK and PRINCE2 governance to produce clear plans, status reporting and escalation paths.
• Coach project contributors and stakeholders, clarify ownership, remove blockers and maintain decisions, risks and actions to completion.

Your profile

Essential skills

• Bring at least 10 years of proven experience as a security project manager or in a comparable senior IT project-management role.
• Demonstrate practical command of Agile delivery, SCRUM, PMBOK and PRINCE2, adapting methods to project risk and governance requirements.
• Apply ISO 27001:2005, NIST and ZeroTrust principles to security planning, control implementation and project decisions.
• Coach cross-functional teams, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and maintain accountability for delivery outcomes.
• Hold Belgian nationality and either possess a Top Secret security clearance or be willing to obtain one.
• Handle sensitive information discreetly and maintain accurate project documentation, risk registers and management reporting.

Preferred skills

• Apply endpoint detection and response concepts, including EDR and SIEM, to security programme delivery.
• Coordinate initiatives involving PKI, Android, Linux and Microsoft Windows environments.

Languages

• Dutch or French: native or C1/C2 proficiency in one national language and at least B2 in the other.
• English: at least B2, sufficient for security documentation, project reporting and stakeholder communication.
