A public water utility is introducing new business processes in SAP S/4-IS-U and related applications. The Senior Test Manager SAP S/4 IS-U will define and coordinate functional, technical, integration, and end-to-end testing across SAP utilities processes, Open Text services, and connected interfaces, using advanced JIRA test management and BPMN-based process analysis.
The mission
The organisation is running a multi-year IT transformation programme focused on SAP S/4-IS-U, including B&I, CM, DMM, and FICA processes. The technical landscape also includes SAP CPI, Peppol, Open Text Archiving, Open Text Directory Services, Open Text Document Presentment, and interfaces such as IDoc and RFC. Test governance must cover changes to the existing solution as well as new implementations, with clear quality risks, acceptance criteria, and regression coverage.
You will work between IT specialists, SAP experts, project management, and business users. Your scope includes creating the integrated test plan, defining test phases and timelines, coordinating scenario execution, managing defects through resolution, and reporting progress and risks to the IT project manager and steering committee. You will also provide testing guidance and coaching to colleagues and contribute to reusable documentation for future SAP projects.
Your responsibilities
- Establish the test strategy, methodology, governance, scope, and planning for SAP S/4-IS-U projects and changes to the current solution.
- Build positive, negative, integration, regression, and end-to-end test scenarios from SAP blueprints and business process requirements.
- Administer JIRA workflows, permissions, screens, schemes, notifications, dashboards, and real-time reports, using Xray, Zephyr, or an equivalent test management extension.
- Coordinate test execution across IT and business teams, ensuring that applications, interfaces, documentation, and training support the required acceptance activities.
- Track test progress, quality KPIs, defects, corrective actions, dependencies, and residual risks against the agreed plan.
- Deliver integrated test plans, acceptance criteria, test result reports, acceptance reports, and structured documentation that can be reused in later projects.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Brings senior-level experience in test management in S/4 IS-U, with a strong understanding of SAP Utilities processes and the functional and technical links between them.
- Applies structured test methodologies across V-Model, Agile, and hybrid delivery models, including risk-based testing, quality governance, and KPI definition.
- Holds ISTQB Foundation certification and can apply recognised test management practices in complex IT transformation projects.
- Demonstrates advanced JIRA administration and JIRA test management capability, including workflow design with conditions, validators, and post-functions.
- Understands SAP S/4-IS-U B&I, CM, DMM, and FICA, SAP CPI, SAP SolMan, Open Text solutions, Peppol, and integration testing across modules and interfaces.
- Uses BPMN and blueprint analysis to identify process impacts and define relevant end-to-end scenarios.
- Communicates clearly with technical and business stakeholders, challenges decisions constructively, manages conflicts, and works independently with strong documentation discipline.
- Applies ITIL principles and respects GDPR, ISO27001, and NIS2 requirements when planning and executing testing activities.
