A public-sector benefits organisation is migrating several essential information tools that support benefit administration processes, as part of a modernisation programme focused on continuity of service. As a Medior .NET Developer, you will develop and integrate components in C#/.NET 10, including ASP.NET Web API, while documenting and customising the solution with the architecture group.

The mission

The work involves migrating essential information tools for benefits processes rather than building an isolated application. These tools support core operational workflows, so the development work must preserve functional behaviour while introducing a more maintainable Microsoft technology stack. The landscape includes .NET Core and .NET 10, Blazor, MVC, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server and REST APIs.

You will contribute to the development stream and connect the different components into a coherent solution. Your day-to-day scope covers API and application development, security integration, testing, documentation and solution customisation. Authentication and authorisation using JWT, OIDC and claims, Swagger/OpenAPI contracts and, where required, WCF integrations form part of the technical context.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop application components with C#/.NET 10, ASP.NET Web API, Blazor and MVC to support migrated business functionality.
  • Integrate REST APIs, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server and existing WCF components so the solution works across the required information tools.
  • Implement Authentication/Authorization with JWT, OIDC and claims, and expose clear API contracts through Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • Customise and document the solution with the architecture group, making technical decisions and configuration understandable for future maintenance.
  • Apply unit and integration testing in .NET applications, identifying defects before components are integrated into the wider solution.
  • Analyse requirements and technical information, compare alternatives and draw coherent conclusions when business rules or existing integrations need clarification.

Your profile

Essential skills

  • Bring medior-level professional experience in Microsoft .NET development and component integration.
  • Build applications with C# and .NET Core or .NET 10, using ASP.NET Web API, MVC and Blazor.
  • Design, develop and consume REST APIs, with a sound understanding of REST principles and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
  • Secure applications through Authentication/Authorization using JWT, OIDC and claims.
  • Work effectively with Entity Framework Core and SQL Server for data access and persistence.
  • Understand WCF and its role when integrating or maintaining existing services.
  • Apply structured unit and integration testing practices to validate application behaviour.
  • Analyse complex information, identify logical relationships, evaluate alternatives and communicate clear conclusions.
