A public-sector social security organisation is rewriting and migrating several essential information tools that support benefits administration and service continuity. In this functional analyst role on the .NET 10 migration programme, you will analyse current and target business processes, facilitate stakeholder workshops, and turn the outcomes into BPMN models and implementation-ready user stories.
The mission
The programme covers multiple tools used by the benefits service and affects processes that must remain consistent as functionality is modernised. The technical delivery is moving towards .NET 10, while the functional work must preserve agreed business rules and make the future process explicit. Analysis follows established standards and methodology, giving implementation analysts and delivery teams a reliable basis for the rewrite.
Your work starts before implementation, with a detailed description of how processes operate today and how they should operate after migration. You will organise and lead meetings with business stakeholders, listen for operational needs, assess impacts across departments, and document decisions in a form that development and test teams can use directly. During delivery, you will follow the solution through implementation and confirm that it remains aligned with the design agreed with the business.
Your responsibilities
- Map current and target business processes with BPMN, UML, and use cases, producing models that stakeholders and implementation teams can validate.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings with business representatives to capture needs, clarify decisions, and establish a shared understanding of the process.
- Translate business analysis into user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria that analysts and developers can implement.
- Maintain traceability between business needs, process models, user stories, and test activities throughout the migration.
- Validate the delivered solution through testing and stakeholder review, identifying gaps between the implemented functionality and the agreed business design.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring professional experience in functional analysis and work independently on defined analysis streams within a rewrite or migration programme.
- Apply business process analysis to describe current and future states clearly, using BPMN and UML where appropriate.
- Write precise user stories, use cases, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria for implementation teams.
- Facilitate workshops through clear communication, active listening, and storytelling that makes abstract concepts understandable to different audiences.
- Work effectively within an Agile/Scrum delivery model and collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, and testers.
- Support functional testing and stakeholder validation to determine whether the solution meets the documented requirements.
- Analyse information critically, conceptualise practical solutions, and assess cross-functional impacts beyond individual departments.
