A public-sector organisation is migrating several essential information tools that support the business processes of a benefits service, with the aim of modernising the applications and maintaining continuity of service. As a Technical Lead .NET, you will guide the rewrite and migration while staying hands-on with C#, .NET 10, ASP.NET Web API, Blazor and Microsoft Azure.
The mission
The project covers the migration of several essential information tools and the maintenance of existing applications. The technical landscape includes C# on .NET Core and .NET 10, ASP.NET Web API, Blazor, REST services documented with Swagger/OpenAPI, SQL Server and Azure Service Bus. Developers work with functional experts, business analysts, the portfolio architect and Infrastructure & Operations to align technical choices with organisational architecture. The work supports essential operational processes, so the resulting solutions must be secure, reliable and maintainable.
You will hold final technical responsibility for the software systems within the application team and report to the project manager. Your scope combines technical direction with practical development: refining requirements into designs, making implementation decisions, reviewing code, resolving complex issues and contributing directly to features and bug fixes. You will also connect application decisions with architecture, infrastructure and operational delivery.
Your responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for the application team, mentor developers and make design decisions that align delivery with portfolio architecture and organisational standards.
- Design scalable, reliable and maintainable systems, balancing application needs with security, performance and operational constraints.
- Develop and review C# and .NET 10 features, ASP.NET Web API endpoints and Blazor components, including bug fixes and refactoring.
- Translate refined requirements into REST-based solutions and apply authentication and authorization with JWT, OIDC and claims.
- Prepare release documentation, infrastructure requests and configuration change requests, coordinating implementation with Infrastructure & Operations.
- Lead diagnosis of complex incidents, optimise software performance and enforce unit and integration testing through code review and quality practices.
