A French-speaking organisation based in Brussels, Belgium, is strengthening technical ownership of its core business applications, with a senior Technical Lead backend responsible for backend development across .NET Framework, .NET Core and .NET 8+. The role covers RESTful API services, Entity Framework Core and Java applications hosted with Apache, while supporting delivery in the Brussels-Capital Region through the end of 2026.
The mission
The application landscape combines .NET Framework and .NET 8+ services, RESTful API services on .NET Framework and .NET 8+, JSON payloads, Entity Framework Core, and relational databases using Oracle 19+ and SQL 2016+. It also includes Java solutions hosted with components from the Apache ecosystem. Development follows Agile practices, with Azure DevOps and Git supporting source control, continuous integration and delivery. The work matters because these core business applications require consistent quality, maintainability, performance and secure development practices.
As the senior technical reference, you will shape implementation choices and guide the developers working on the applications. Your scope includes Entity Framework Core backend development, code reviews, technical standards, complex issue resolution and the allocation of technical work. You will work with project managers, business analysts, product owners and other stakeholders on estimation, planning, technical risks and progress. The assignment is planned to continue until the end of 2026.
Your responsibilities
- Establish and maintain development standards, design patterns and quality controls that improve maintainability and performance across core business applications.
- Lead or supervise code reviews and resolve complex backend issues, ensuring implementation quality in .NET and Java components.
- Strengthen continuous integration and DevOps practices through Azure DevOps and Git, with reliable build and delivery processes.
- Coach developers, distribute technical work and create knowledge-sharing practices that increase team autonomy.
- Coordinate technical estimates, development planning and progress tracking with project managers, business analysts and product owners.
- Identify technical risks early and enforce cybersecurity and secure development practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring senior-level experience as a .NET developer or backend technical lead, with strong command of .NET, .NET Core and .NET 8+.
- Design and review RESTful API implementations using JSON, Entity Framework Core, object-oriented design and established design patterns.
- Work confidently with relational Oracle databases version 19 and later, and SQL databases version 2016 and later.
- Use Visual Studio, Git and Azure DevOps to support Agile delivery and continuous integration.
- Understand Java application hosting with the Apache ecosystem and work effectively across a mixed .NET and Java landscape.
- Apply software architecture principles, performance engineering, application security and secure development practices.
- Lead and coach developers, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and organise priorities while maintaining quality.
