A Belgian public-sector organisation delivering national health and social protection services is strengthening the technical leadership of its application portfolio. As a Technical Lead .NET, you will guide new initiatives and maintain existing applications while remaining hands-on with C# / .NET, ASP.NET Web API, Blazor, and Microsoft Azure. The role combines solution design, coding, security, and coordination across application, architecture, business analysis, and infrastructure teams.
The mission
The application portfolio supports ICT and data services with a direct impact on public services across Belgium. The technical landscape includes .NET Core and .NET 10, REST APIs, Azure Bus, SQL Server, Git, and DevOps server management, with a strong focus on maintainability, testing, and secure integration. You will work within an application team and coordinate with functional experts, business analysts, the portfolio architect, and Infrastructure & Operations.
Your scope covers the full technical lifecycle, from refining requirements and defining system designs to coding features, reviewing implementations, and supporting releases. You will hold final technical responsibility for the software delivered by the application team, ensuring that design choices align with architectural standards while addressing performance, security, and operational requirements.
Your responsibilities
- Lead technical direction for application initiatives and mentor developers through design, implementation, and delivery decisions.
- Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable .NET solutions that fit the wider portfolio architecture.
- Develop APIs, application features, and fixes using C# / .NET, ASP.NET Web API, Blazor, REST, and Azure services.
- Protect applications by applying authentication and authorization patterns using JWT, OIDC, claims, OAuth, OpenID, and OWASP practices.
- Assure delivery quality through code reviews, unit and integration testing, performance analysis, and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
- Coordinate technical release documentation, infrastructure and configuration requests, complex troubleshooting, and collaboration with Infrastructure & Operations.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Senior-level experience in .NET development with the ability to combine technical leadership and hands-on coding.
- Capability to build and review C# / .NET Core and .NET 10 applications, ASP.NET Web API services, Blazor components, and REST interfaces.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Azure Bus, SQL Server, Git, DevOps server management, and core networking concepts.
- Ability to apply software patterns, engineering best practices, Swagger/OpenAPI, and unit and integration testing throughout delivery.
- Strong understanding of application security, including JWT, OIDC, claims, OAuth, OpenID, and OWASP principles.
- Clear communication, mentoring, analytical problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
