A public transport organisation is renewing its fare collection systems across a Walloon public transport network. This senior Technical Project Manager role coordinates the deployment of validators, sales terminals and inspection devices, while establishing hardware maintenance processes and controlling budgets and public procurement decisions.
The mission
The programme covers three connected projects: installation of new ticketing equipment, removal and recycling of existing devices, and implementation of the maintenance model for the new hardware. The deployment spans multiple vehicle types, depots and infrastructure sites, with coordination across five regional Business Units, operational teams, maintenance teams, infrastructure specialists and external suppliers. Project monitoring must keep installation quality, testing, pilots, dependencies and commissioning aligned across the network.
You will take end-to-end responsibility for the technical workstreams and connect operational requirements with programme governance. Your scope will include deployment planning, engineering office coordination, supplier follow-up, spare-parts management, maintenance contracts, service levels and availability indicators. The role also includes regular visits to depots and installation sites across the Walloon region to verify execution, resolve operational issues and secure progressive go-lives.
Your responsibilities
- Define and deliver deployment strategies, installation plans, pilot phases and progressive rollouts for ticketing equipment across vehicles and infrastructure.
- Coordinate removal, storage, recovery and recycling of legacy equipment, including the associated infrastructure reinstatement activities.
- Establish the hardware maintenance operating model, covering processes, spare parts, corrective and preventive interventions, contracts, SLAs and availability reporting.
- Control budgets and supplier invoices by assessing additional-order requests, validating quantities delivered and ensuring alignment between executed services and billed amounts.
- Govern workshops, decisions, risks and dependencies across internal experts, five regional Business Units, operational teams, maintenance teams, infrastructure stakeholders and suppliers.
- Report progress, quality findings, financial information, risks and required arbitrations to programme governance.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring senior experience managing technical projects in a large organisation, preferably involving distributed operations, infrastructure or equipment deployment.
- Demonstrate strong budget management capabilities, including supplier claims, purchase requests, invoice validation and financial reporting.
- Apply public procurement expertise to assess technical justifications, contractual scope and supplier deliverables.
- Use structured project monitoring to manage schedules, dependencies, risks, quality controls and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate an engineering office, or bureau d'études, together with operational, maintenance, infrastructure and supplier stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly with senior governance and diverse project contributors, and lead decisions in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Show public sector experience and the flexibility to work regularly in depots, workshops and deployment locations across Wallonia.
