A Flemish public-sector organisation responsible for inland waterways, water management and related infrastructure is strengthening its ICT workplace services. As a junior workplace support technician, you will handle laptop staging and desktop installation, prepare end-user equipment, and provide practical support for staff working across sites in Flanders.
The mission
The workplace services team manages the full lifecycle of end-user equipment, from receiving and registering stock to staging, delivery and follow-up. The environment includes Windows laptops and desktops, tablets, mobile devices, screens, printers and scanners, with Microsoft Office and Office 365 used by internal teams. Image versions must be kept current so that equipment is delivered with a consistent configuration. Installations and user handovers take place at sites across the Flemish region, including Willebroek, making practical on-site work part of the role.
You will work under the workplace services team lead and connect preparation work with user-facing support. Your scope covers configuring equipment, operationalising workplace components, maintaining image and configuration information, and resolving first-line issues after delivery. You will also keep ICT stock records accurate and support ICT stock management through Topdesk. The work supports continuity for an organisation that manages waterways, water-related infrastructure and recreational facilities across Flanders.
Your responsibilities
- Prepare and stage laptops, desktops, tablets and screens according to standard configurations.
- Install and deploy end-user equipment at operational sites, complete handovers and verify that users can work effectively.
- Maintain current image versions and configuration information to support consistent workplace installations.
- Resolve first-line workplace issues involving Windows devices, Office applications, mobile devices, printers and scanners.
- Receive, register and issue ICT equipment while keeping stock records and delivery status accurate in Topdesk.
- Advise and support users on workplace hardware and software, escalating issues when they require specialist intervention.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least one year of experience in junior workplace infrastructure installation, end-user computing or a comparable IT support technician role.
- Install and stage laptops and desktops independently, including basic configuration, testing and preparation for delivery.
- Operationalise and support workplace components such as PCs, mobile devices, printers and scanners.
- Work in a structured and customer-oriented way, both independently and in cooperation with the workplace services team.
Preferred skills
- Experience with MS Windows operating systems and first and second line Office 365 support.
- Understanding of PC hardware and software components, MS Office packages and common workplace troubleshooting methods.
- Knowledge of Active Directory support at first and second line level.
- Familiarity with change management and configuration management tools, as well as ITIL Service Support.
- Experience with an additional client OS such as Mac or iOS, and with SCCM, ServiceNow (SNOW), Topdesk or ICT stock management.
- A proactive, structured working style and the ability to contribute as a team player while managing assigned work independently.
Languages
- Dutch: CEFR C2, required for user support and operational communication.
