A Belgian public social security organisation is strengthening quality assurance for internally developed applications. As a Test Analyst in Brussels, Belgium, within the Brussels-Capital Region, you will join a Dutch-speaking Agile Scrum development team, where API testing with SOAP and REST, Azure DevOps, and functional and non-functional testing are part of the delivery scope.
The mission
The IT department includes more than 150 people and works with stakeholders in both Dutch and French. Delivery follows an Agile Scrum method within a multidisciplinary Dutch-speaking team comprising a Scrum Master, business analysts, developers, Product Owner, Application Owner and Test Analysts. The team provides coverage for internal ICT tests and end-to-end flows with users, including performance testing where required.
You will develop a practical understanding of each application's technical environment and business requirements, then turn that analysis into a test strategy for each application change. Your day-to-day scope covers test scenario and test case design, test data preparation, execution, result analysis and reporting to business analysts and developers. You will support user acceptance testing with business users, follow corrections with the relevant parties, and connect regression and test automation work to the team's quality objectives.
Your responsibilities
- Define test strategies that connect business requirements, technical dependencies and delivery risks to clear quality objectives.
- Design test scenarios, test cases and regression suites that identify defects early across application changes.
- Prepare test data and execute functional, non-functional, performance, API, internal ICT and end-to-end tests, producing evidence for release decisions.
- Validate SOAP and REST services with SoapUI, ReadyAPI, Postman or equivalent tools, and use SQL queries to check data and XML and JSON payloads.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing with business users, guide them through the process and maintain clear communication with analysts, developers and stakeholders.
- Analyse, document and report results in Azure DevOps, follow corrections with responsible parties, and improve test automation using Playwright or a comparable tool.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Bring at least five years of experience as a Test Analyst, combining functional analysis with a sound understanding of technical environments.
- Apply Agile Scrum practices and work effectively in a multidisciplinary development team.
- Plan and execute functional and non-functional testing, including performance testing, and turn results into clear defect reports.
- Perform API testing on SOAP and REST services using SoapUI, ReadyAPI, Postman or equivalent tools.
- Write SQL queries and interpret XML and JSON to prepare test data and verify integration behaviour.
- Use Azure DevOps to organise test evidence, track defects and communicate status.
- Apply ISTQB, TMap or another recognised test methodology, and understand how to build or support automated regression tests.
- Communicate clearly with technical specialists and business users, take ownership of follow-up, work autonomously and contribute constructively to the team.
