A major insurance organisation in Belgium is extending quality assurance for its Life business applications, with the relevant IS team based in the Brussels-Capital Region. As a Test Automation Engineer in Brussels, you will create and maintain automated checks in OpenText UFT, manage test execution information in HP ALM, and work with testing, IS, and business stakeholders to keep application releases reliable.
The mission
The IS Life division supports applications and test environments used for insurance processes. Its testing landscape combines functional testing, automated regression coverage, defect follow-up, and reporting across established delivery tools. OpenText UFT is used for automated scripts and object repositories, while HP ALM organises cycles, test suites, and execution planning. Azure DevOps provides additional support for boards, work items, and test plans.
Your day-to-day scope covers the maintenance and development of automated test scripts, execution preparation, test-result analysis, and defect handling. You will distinguish a product defect from a script-maintenance issue, keep test assets reusable, and provide clear status information for timely resolution. Collaboration spans the Testing Team, IS teams, business stakeholders, and management, so the role combines hands-on automation with structured communication. Your output supports consistent testing practices and the governance and coordination of quality activities within IS Life.
Your responsibilities
- Increase regression coverage and test efficiency by developing automated test scripts in OpenText UFT for new and existing functionality.
- Maintain reliable, reusable test assets by optimising object repositories and updating scripts as applications evolve.
- Structure and schedule test execution in HP ALM through cycles, test suites, and planned script runs.
- Identify defects early, separate application issues from maintenance needs, and drive resolution through precise reporting and follow-up.
- Validate Power BI report structures, data refreshes, and underlying data consistency to support dependable test reporting.
- Coordinate with testing, IS, business stakeholders, and management on priorities, issue resolution, and testing governance.
